Nigerian’s participation in Peace Support Operations (PSO) dates back to 1960 when General Aguiyi Ironsi led her first contingent to the war ravaging Congo. The successes recorded in this endeavour endeared Nigeria to the international community as a reliable peace partner and has since been an active participant in global and regional peacekeeping. Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC), previously known as Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre (NAPKC) is a globally recognised Centre of Excellence  saddled with the responsibility of preparing quality Peacekeepers for the multi dimensional challenges of contemporary PSO. Its scope was further increased beyond delivering Pre-deployment Training (PDT), to cover other individual PSO courses and has since contributed its quota in developing manpower for the service of the United Nations.
